SendMea

A video testimonial platform where customers record in the browser and businesses curate and publish the results. Softroid's founder worked as full-stack developer across the React front end, Firebase back end, and Node.js cloud functions.

The problem

SendMea's whole job is capturing video testimonials — and recordings were getting lost. The Cloud Function pushing videos to Cloudinary could hit its timeout with no error handling, so a customer would finish recording and the testimonial would silently vanish. Browsers also disagreed on recording formats, so a take from Safari could fail to play in Chrome.

Our approach

Rebuilt the upload path with proper timeout handling in the Cloud Function and real error states in the UI, so a slow Cloudinary response cannot silently lose a take. Normalised the recording format across Safari and Chrome so every testimonial plays everywhere. Also worked across authentication, the moderation dashboard, and the embeddable widget flows.

The outcome

Recordings stopped going missing: a customer either sees their testimonial saved or gets a clear retry instead of silence. The recording, moderation, and embed flows run in production at sendmea.io.
